Jove Group becomes a Bronze Sponsor of the Juan Sebastián de Elcano Centenary

Jove Group: The Centenary of Juan Sebastián de Elcano

A century of sailing towards the future.

It’s official. JOVE Group is a Bronze Sponsor of the Juan Sebastián de Elcano Centenary, a celebration taking place throughout 2027 and 2028 to commemorate a hundred years of history of the Spanish Navy’s training ship.

Last Tuesday, 29 September, we attended the official presentation of the commemorative programme, marking the beginning of a special period as the Juan Sebastián de Elcano sails towards its hundredth anniversary.

A hundred years of history, training, learning and service. A hundred years during which this four-masted topsail schooner has become much more than a ship: a true floating embassy, carrying our culture, our values and our flag across all five continents.

At Jove Group, we are delighted to be part of this celebration as a Bronze Sponsor of the Elcano Centenary and to support the commemorative events taking place throughout 2027 and 2028, which will be documented in the Centenary Logbook.

This partnership allows us to share in a celebration that recognises principles we also consider fundamental: commitment, responsibility, perseverance and the ability to look to the future while remembering everything learned along the way.

During the presentation, the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy (AJEMA) highlighted the four principles that have guided Elcano throughout these hundred years:

Loyalty. Honour. Courage. Discipline.

Four enduring values that provide a compass for facing new challenges and continuing to look towards the future.

Minerva, a witness to a century of history

One of the most memorable moments of the presentation was meeting Minerva, the figurehead of the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, who brought us closer to the history and spirit of a ship that has left its mark on generations.

Elcano also embodies a distinctive combination of the tradition of the sextant and the technology of the 21st century: the legacy of a hundred years of sailing, with its sights set on the next hundred.

The event was also attended by Captain José María de la Puente, Commanding Officer of the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, alongside other dignitaries and representatives involved in the celebration.

A century behind us. Two years ahead.

At Jove Group, we look forward with great enthusiasm to taking part in this celebration and to everything these two years will bring.

A century behind us.
Two years ahead.
And so much to look forward to as part of what comes next.
